India being a democratic country every five years we have elections and have a chance to choose our leaders in the form of Councillor, Member of Parliament, Member of the Legislative assembly through the Municipal election, Lok sabha elections or Vidha sabha elections. Every five years we get a chance to choose our Chief minister and Prime minister through our power which is named as ‘Vote’, we can choose our leader through the voting process in the elections. Indian Prime Ministers since Independence:
India got independence on 15th of August 1947, but the Indian constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950, (You can read more about Republic Day Here), after the republic day the first elections were held in India in 1952, Mr. Jawahar lal Nehru was first elected as the Prime Minister of India, his term of office for around 16 years from Indian National Congress Party. When it comes to Indian prime ministers no one can forget Indira Gandhi who was the third, fourth, fifth and seventh prime minister of India; she was prime minister for about 15 years from the Medak constituency of Telangana state. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the eleventh, twelve and thirteenth prime minister of India. He was in office for about six years. After that in 2004 elections again Indian National Congress (UPA) won the Lok Sabha elections than Mr. Manmohan Singh was the prime minister for about ten years. After that in 2014 General Lok Sabha elections, Congress secured only 44 seats and BJP won approximate 282 seats (without alliance) and had formed the government with Mr.Narendra Modi as prime minister. In Lok Sabha elections 2014 Arvind Kejriwal from Aam Aadmi Party, Narendra Modi from Bhartiya Janta party and Rahul Gandhi from Indian National Congress were the main faces.
Prime Minister for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections:
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, there were three prime ministerial candidates from Congress, BJP and AAP were Rahul Gandhi, Narendra Modi and Arvind Kejriwal whereas Narendra Modi became the prime minister, now in 2019 Lok Sabha elections Arvind Kejriwal, Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi can become the Prime Minister of India. These three names are just based on the previous elections. Lok sabha are going to be held by the ECI (Election Commission of India) and people will again have the right to vote and choose the leader.
